GET A LAWYER!!
I've got my own personal speeding ticket fixer (he charges $200 if he wins & nada if he loses - he's always got his $$)
Insurance companies have brackets for speeding that translate to number of points. A past ins. co. of mine broke it down like this: 1-14 over= 1pt. 15-29 over= 2pts. 30+= 3pts.
I've got two 2nd degree negs (negligent driving, not as bad as reckless) on my record (the second was a speeding ticket of 27 mph over in a speed trap and the cop was an ass about my signaled lane change). I repressented my self on both and learned alot about the "system". The fines were all reduced, but still went on my record. THEN!! I got a hold of my lawyer, and I've been clean for 2+ years now. costs a little at first, but saves your record and insurance costs.

I agree. Get a lawyer and don't plead to anything. I used one once to get a misdemeanor reduced to disorderly conduct! (College days... ah yes...)
Best $500 I ever spent.

Get a traffic lawyer, always use a specialized lawyer. Being in court a few times myself, I noticed that the traffic lawyers won much more than the criminal ones did...my 2 cents...

Whatever happens, at least you were SOBER!
Think of the s*** creek you'd be up if you got a DWI instead of a speeding ticket.
That should cheer you up a little.

I don't know about your state's laws, but most states require a minimum distance for a pace. Now, the cop could falsely state that distance, but somewhere on the ticket should be a mile marker or exit where he pulled you over. Most states require at least a 1/4 mile, some as much as a mile. A good lawyer should be able to easily argue a "pace" ticket like this. Good Luck!

Gosh Vtechnogeek, I wish I had found this board when I got my last ticket. I was speeding around 75 late at night and from about 200 yard back, I see a cop all of sudden light up his lights. I think he's trying to get somewhere so I get out of his way. Next thing I know, the cops on my ass and he pulls me over. Says he saw me going about 90, but he was going to be a nice guy and only get me for 80. Such BS, I was only going 75, my speedo couldn't of been that far off. Damn pig probably just saw me passing by when he got on the freeway and figured he'd come give me a hard time. Sometimes I just hate frigging cops...
